Iowa Meth Dealer Krowiorz Gets 10 Years

VAIL, IOWA – A hard-drug hustler from Vail, Iowa, is heading to federal prison after a guilty plea to methamphetamine charges. Jeffrey Duane Krowiorz, II, 25, will spend the next decade behind bars for his role in peddling the deadly drug.

Krowiorz received a 120-month sentence, handed down September 19, 2013, by United States District Court Judge Donald E. O’Brien in Sioux City. The sentence stems from an incident on September 28, 2012, where Krowiorz was found in possession of over 18 grams of actual (pure) methamphetamine, with clear intent to distribute it to others.

The bust didn’t come easy. According to court documents, Krowiorz attempted to flee on foot when officers approached him regarding an outstanding arrest warrant. He didn’t get far. Officers quickly apprehended him and discovered three separate baggies of methamphetamine cleverly concealed inside a body spray container that had been repurposed as a makeshift storage compartment.

This wasn’t a small-time operation. The quantity of methamphetamine involved – over 18 grams of pure product – points to a significant distribution network. Federal authorities aren’t messing around with drug dealers in Iowa, and the ten-year sentence underscores that point.

In addition to the prison term, Krowiorz was slapped with a $100 special assessment and will be required to serve an eight-year term of supervised release after he’s released from custody. For those unfamiliar with the federal system, there’s no parole. He’s currently in the custody of the United States Marshals awaiting transport to a designated federal prison.

The successful prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde, with crucial investigative work provided by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, the Spirit Lake Police Department, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations. Court file information, including case number 12-4098, is publicly available at https://ecf.iand.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/login.pl. This case serves as a stark warning: dealing drugs in Iowa will land you in a federal penitentiary.
