Jeremiah Hicks, 38, is headed to federal prison for over twelve years after admitting to dealing poison in Hammond, Indiana. Hicks was sentenced to 151 months – that’s 12 years and 7 months – after copping to selling heroin and cocaine in August 2023. He’s a repeat offender, and the feds didn’t cut him slack.

Federal agents busted Hicks twice in August 2023, catching him in the act of selling dope. A search of his Hammond residence turned up a semi-automatic pistol and a stash of U.S. currency, presumably earned from pushing drugs. He wasn’t exactly hiding his operation.

This wasn’t Hicks’ first rodeo with the law. Court records show he was convicted of possession with intent to distribute in 2012, and again for dealing narcotics in 2018. Those past convictions definitely factored into the length of his new sentence.

U.S. Attorney Adam Mildred praised the work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) and the Hammond Police Department. “The Defendant has forfeited over 12 years of his life,” Mildred said in a statement. A sentiment that likely won’t offer much comfort to the families impacted by Hicks’ dealing.
