A crew of Philly stick-up artists is staring down life sentences after a federal jury slammed them for a city-wide carjacking spree that turned deadly. The five men—Mikal McCracken, Amin Muse, Aleem Abdul-Hakim, Dean Fosque, and Kavon Coleman—were found guilty of conspiracy, armed robbery, and, in the cases of McCracken and Muse, two counts of murder. The violence unfolded between February 2022 and July 2024, with the stolen vehicles allegedly shipped overseas, reportedly to Africa, for resale.
The operation spiraled into bloodshed when the crew brutally carjacked and murdered a former Marine in February 2022. Mikal McCracken, known as “Kal” on the streets, was convicted of that killing and then again for conspiring to murder a potential witness just weeks later, trying to bury the original crime. Amin Muse, alias “Miyn” and “Miyns,” stood alongside McCracken in both murders, and faced eight additional armed carjacking convictions.
Federal prosecutors detailed a pattern of brazen violence: 20 separate incidents where victims were shot at or shot during the carjackings. One man was targeted twice, carjacked and shot on two different occasions within a single month. Aleem Abdul-Hakim, “Fatleem,” played a role in the Marine’s death and another five armed robberies. Dean Fosque, “30,” was linked to nine carjackings, three of which involved gunfire, leaving one victim wounded. Kavon Coleman, “Ski,” connected to four robberies.
The July 2024 superseding indictment painted a picture of a coldly organized criminal enterprise. The feds laid out evidence linking the crew to a sophisticated operation, exporting stolen vehicles while escalating the level of violence with each snatch. Sentencing dates haven’t been set, but given the severity of the charges, each defendant is facing a substantial stretch behind bars.
