PHILADELPHIA – A five-man crew faces decades in prison after a federal jury slammed them with convictions in a terrifying wave of armed carjackings that stretched across the city and ended in two deaths. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the verdicts today, detailing a scheme where stolen vehicles were shipped to Africa for resale.
The ringleader, Mikal McCracken, 24, a.k.a. “Kal,” was found guilty of the most heinous charges: carjacking resulting in the death of a former Marine in February 2022. But it didn’t stop there. McCracken was also convicted of conspiring with others to silence a potential witness – a separate murder – and linked to an additional 20 armed carjackings, five of which involved gunfire. One victim was targeted twice, robbed and shot on separate occasions a month apart.
Amin Muse, 24, a.k.a. “Miyn” and “Miyns,” stands alongside McCracken in responsibility for the Marine’s murder and the witness-silencing plot. He also faces consequences for eight additional armed carjackings, one where a victim was shot at.
Aleem Abdul-Hakim, 23, a.k.a. “Fatleem,” was convicted for his role in the Marine’s murder and five other armed carjackings. Dean Fosque, 28, a.k.a. “30,” will answer for nine carjackings, including three shootings – one of which resulted in a victim being hit.
Rounding out the crew, Kavon Coleman, 23, a.k.a. “Ski,” was convicted for his involvement in four armed carjackings. Federal prosecutors detailed how the group systematically targeted vehicles and then moved them through a network to buyers who would ship them overseas. Sentencing dates have not been announced.
