PHILADELPHIA – A crew of Philly stick-up artists is facing serious time after a federal jury slammed them with convictions for a brutal carjacking racket that left at least one man dead and another targeted for silencing. U.S. Attorney David Metcalf announced the guilty verdicts today, capping a case built on a trail of terror and international vehicle trafficking.
The five – Mikal McCracken (24, aka “Kal”), Amin Muse (24, aka “Miyn” and “Miyns”), Aleem Abdul-Hakim (23, aka “Fatleem”), Dean Fosque (28, aka “30”), and Kavon Coleman (23, aka “Ski”) – were hit with charges last July. The indictment detailed a systematic operation: carjacking victims in and around Philadelphia, then fencing the stolen vehicles to buyers who shipped them overseas, primarily to Africa for resale.
The most damning evidence centered on the February 2022 murder of a former Marine during a carjacking. McCracken, Muse, and Abdul-Hakim were all convicted in connection with the killing. But the violence didn’t stop there. McCracken and Muse were also found guilty of conspiring to kill a potential witness – a chilling attempt to cover their tracks. McCracken faces a mountain of charges tied to 20 separate armed carjackings, five of which involved victims being shot or shot at. One victim was targeted twice, a month apart.
Muse also has eight additional armed carjackings linked to him, including one where a victim was fired upon. Fosque was convicted on charges stemming from nine carjackings, three of which involved gunfire – and one where a victim was actually hit. Coleman, the alleged low man, was linked to four carjacking attempts/completions.
The feds are promising lengthy prison sentences, and with convictions on these charges, these guys aren’t likely to see Philly streets again anytime soon.
