WASHINGTON D.C. – Gianni Robinson, 28, is headed to federal prison for 126 months after masterminding a string of seven armed robberies targeting a Walgreens in D.C.’s Chinatown. The sentence, handed down today in U.S. District Court, closes a case that exposed a brazen inside job fueled by greed and callous disregard.

Robinson, the central planner, used two Walgreens store managers – his uncle, Michael Robinson, and London Teeter – to feed him crucial details about security and store operations. The intel went straight to Kamanye Williams, the masked gunman who carried out the robberies at the store on 8th and 7th Streets NW between July 2023 and February 2024. The crew relieved the store of roughly $28,983.

The feds say Robinson wasn’t just a coordinator; he was the hub of the operation. He provided Williams with manager access codes, gave the go-ahead for the first heist, and handled the getaway logistics. Disturbingly, after police released surveillance footage of one of the robberies, Robinson reportedly sent the YouTube link – complete with a laughing emoji – to Williams, a move that clearly didn’t amuse Judge Jia M. Cobb. One employee was shot in the chest during one of the robberies.

“He thought the crimes he conspired on were funny,” said U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro. “Now, after seven robberies, countless traumatized employees and one man shot in the chest, Robinson isn’t laughing anymore.”

In addition to the decade-plus prison sentence, Robinson will serve five years of supervised release and is ordered to pay $7,245.75 in restitution.
