Cocaine Ring Busted: Feds Nab Final Dealer

⏱ 2 min read

Cheyenne, WY – Federal authorities are set to detail the takedown of a three-year, bi-state cocaine operation. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Wyoming will hold a press conference Friday to announce the culmination of the investigation, which spanned Teton County, Wyoming, and Teton County, Idaho. The final defendant in the ring was recently sentenced, marking the official closure of the case. The press conference is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the U.S. Attorney’s Office headquarters.

The probe, a joint effort between the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Teton County Sheriff’s Office (Idaho), and the Idaho State Police, busted a network responsible for pushing cocaine across state lines. Details of the sentences and the amounts of cocaine involved will be revealed Friday, but sources confirm the investigation was lengthy and involved significant resources.

U.S. Attorney Darin Smith, Wyoming DCI Director Ronnie Jones, and DEA Special Agent in Charge Dave Olesky will front the press conference, outlining the operation and the successful prosecution of the five individuals involved. The feds are expected to highlight the cooperative effort between agencies that brought down the conspiracy.

Media are asked to RSVP to Lori Hogan (lori.hogan@usdoj.gov, 307-772-2124) by Thursday to attend in person or request a virtual link. The US Attorney’s office is located at 2120 Capitol Avenue, 5th Floor, Cheyenne, WY 82001.
