7 Years for Border Hopper

⏱ 3 min read

Fernando Ramirez-Noria, 44, is heading to federal prison for seven years – 84 months – after a Harris County DWI bust exposed his habit of repeatedly ignoring deportation orders. The feds finally nailed him this week, sentencing him for unlawful reentry into the U.S. after multiple kickings out. Judge Charles Eskridge didn’t mess around.

This wasn’t just a simple border run. Ramirez-Noria first got the boot in January 2015, then again in June 2020, and kept slipping back into the country, building a criminal record while doing it. Court documents reveal a history of trouble, including prior convictions for both domestic violence and another driving while intoxicated charge. The man was clearly a revolving-door offender.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations did the legwork on the case, tracking Ramirez-Noria’s movements. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luis Batarse successfully argued for the maximum sentence, making it clear that repeated violations of immigration law won’t be tolerated. The prosecution tied it into the larger “Operation Take Back America” initiative, a broad stroke aimed at border security.

Ramirez-Noria is already in custody and will be sent to a federal lockup, location TBD. Once he’s done serving his time, expect another trip south. This time, authorities intend to make it permanent. He’ll be deported to Mexico, with little chance of returning.
