Omaha Escapee Gets 40 Months Added

⏱ 3 min read

Jackson Williams, 41, is going back inside – and for a long time. The Omaha man walked away from a federal furlough program in January 2025 and spent almost a year as a fugitive before a jury found him guilty of escape. On Wednesday, Judge Robert Rossiter slammed him with 40 months in federal prison, a sentence that will begin after he finishes serving 90 months for a previous firearms conviction.

The mess started with a seemingly routine furlough from USP Florence in Colorado, approved December 18, 2024. Williams was authorized to bus to Omaha, then take a cab to Dismas Charities, a halfway house. He signed on the dotted line, acknowledging his prisoner status. He never showed. By January 9, 2025, Dismas Charities flagged him as a no-show, and the feds officially declared him an escapee the next day.

Details of Williams’ recapture haven’t been released, but the jury wasn’t swayed by any explanations he offered. This isn’t a first-time offense, either. Williams was already locked up for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Now, he’s got another 40 months added to his tab, plus three years of supervised release, if he ever sees the outside again.
