Osnyson Desrosiers, 32, is headed to federal prison for two years after admitting he helped funnel dozens of Glock handguns from Florida gun shops to the streets of Canada. The former Fort Myers resident, now of Atlanta, worked with Derick Desir to illegally purchase the firearms in early to mid-2022. The pair lied on federal forms, claiming to be the actual buyers when they were simply fronting for someone else.
The scheme wasn’t about personal protection, according to court records. Desrosiers and Desir were “straw purchasing” – buying guns legally for someone who couldn’t. Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) traced the weapons north, with several turning up in the hands of Canadian law enforcement during separate investigations.
Desir already got 3 years and 10 months for his part in the operation after pleading guilty in November 2025. Desrosiers followed suit with his own guilty plea on the same date, sealing his fate with Judge Kyle Dudek. Assistant U.S. Attorney Simon Eth handled the prosecution.
The case is part of “Operation Take Back America,” a broad DOJ initiative targeting cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and illegal immigration – a move officials say is aimed at bolstering border security and protecting communities from violent crime. It combines resources from several task forces.
