Kevin Andrew Jauron, a 39-year-old man from Marion, Iowa, has pleaded guilty to producing child pornography while being required to register as a sex offender.
Jauron admitted in federal court that he persuaded a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of the conduct between 2013 and May 10, 2014.
At the time of the offense, Jauron was required by law to register as a sex offender. He was convicted of one count of production of child pornography and one count of committing an offense involving a minor while being required to register as a sex offender.
Jauron’s guilty plea was entered in federal court in Cedar Rapids. He remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing, which will be set after a presentence report is prepared.
Sentencing will be handled by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. Jauron faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 40 years’ imprisonment, a $500,000 fine, $200 in special assessments, and at least 5 years and up to life on supervised release following any imprisonment.
Court file information is available at https://ecf.iand.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/login.pl, with the case file number being 14-128. The prosecution is being handled by the United States Attorney’s Office, with Steve Young serving as the contact.
The guilty plea is a significant development in the case, and Jauron’s conviction serves as a reminder of the seriousness with which law enforcement and the courts treat crimes involving the exploitation of minors. As the case moves forward to sentencing, the community will be watching to see that justice is served.
