KIRTLAND, OH – Todd Oravecz, 45, is facing two decades behind bars after pleading guilty to a sickening trove of child pornography offenses. U.S. District Chief Judge Sara Lioi handed down the 240-month sentence yesterday, capping a case built on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
The feds zeroed in on Oravecz after NCMEC flagged suspicious activity on a social media platform. Investigators traced the depraved images and videos back to an account in the Cleveland area, ultimately landing at Oravecz’s Kirtland home in December 2024.
A raid turned up a digital graveyard: six cellphones, a laptop, a tablet – all packed with over 100 images and videos of children, some prepubescent and under the age of 12. But the digital filth wasn’t the only red flag. Prosecutors also introduced a 2021 police report alleging Oravecz sexually assaulted a five-year-old minor.
Oravecz will also serve 15 years of supervised release after his prison term and has been ordered to pay $39,000 in restitution. Homeland Security Investigations and the Kirtland Police Department spearheaded the investigation, with assistance from the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office. The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a national effort to crack down on child sexual abuse.
