Palm Coast Predator: ‘Jack’ Campo Faces Child Porn Charges

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Gioacchino “Jack” Campo, 56, of Palm Coast, Florida, is facing serious federal charges after being indicted on counts of receiving and possessing child pornography. The indictment, announced today by United States Attorney A. Lee Bentley, III, details allegations that Campo knowingly engaged in the horrific exploitation of children.

Campo is charged with two counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing the material. Each receipt count carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 5 years in federal prison, with a potential maximum sentence of 20 years. The possession count carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. If convicted on all counts, Campo could spend decades behind bars.

Federal agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, operating out of the Jacksonville and Daytona Beach offices, executed the arrest at Campo’s Palm Coast residence on March 9, 2015. Details of the investigation leading to the indictment have not been fully released, but authorities assure the public they are treating this case with the utmost seriousness. This isn’t a slap on the wrist; this is about protecting the most vulnerable.

Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown is prosecuting the case. It’s a grim reminder that this type of depravity exists within our communities. The wheels of justice are turning, but the damage done to the victims is irreversible. The government will seek the maximum penalties allowed under the law.

This case is being brought forward as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006. Project Safe Childhood aims to combat the escalating epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state, and local resources. It’s a multi-pronged approach focused on apprehending predators and rescuing victims. More information about the initiative can be found at www.justice.gov/psc.

An indictment is not a declaration of guilt. Campo, like all defendants in the American legal system, is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. However, the charges are severe, and the evidence will be presented to a jury to determine his fate. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as they become available.
