PHILADELPHIA – Five Philly men are facing serious time after a federal jury found them guilty of a spree of 29 carjackings, a trail of violence that ended with two men dead. The crew wasn’t just taking cars; they were shipping the stolen vehicles overseas to Africa, according to US Attorney David Metcalf’s office.
The ringleader, Mikal McCracken, 24 (aka “Kal”), got the harshest conviction – implicated in the February 2022 carjacking and murder of a former Marine. But it didn’t stop there. McCracken and others were also found guilty of plotting to knock off a potential witness, also in February 2022, to keep the operation quiet. Beyond the murders, McCracken was tied to 20 additional armed carjackings, five of which involved gunfire. One victim was targeted twice, robbed and shot on separate occasions just a month apart.
Amin Muse, 24 (aka “Miyn” and “Miyns”), was similarly convicted for his role in the Marine’s murder and the witness plot, along with eight other armed carjackings. At least one of those robberies also included shots fired.
Aleem Abdul-Hakim, 23 (aka “Fatleem”), faces consequences for being part of the deadly carjacking of the Marine and another five armed robberies.
Dean Fosque, 28 (aka “30”), was convicted for his involvement in nine carjackings, three of which resulted in someone getting shot – one person was actually hit.
Rounding out the convicted crew, Kavon Coleman, 23 (aka “Ski”), was found guilty of four armed carjackings.
Federal prosecutors presented evidence linking the group to a systematic operation, hijacking vehicles and prepping them for international shipment. Sentencing dates haven’t been announced, but these guys are likely looking at decades behind bars.
