Kansas City police and the FBI have snagged Addison Jones, 28, on charges he was trying to manufacture child pornography. Jones, already on the sex offender registry, allegedly used the internet to groom a 10-year-old boy, attempting to solicit explicit material.
According to court papers, Jones engaged in online communication with the minor with the intent to obtain sexually explicit images. The feds moved fast, cutting the operation short.
Jones is now facing federal charges of attempted production of child pornography, and a separate charge related to violating the terms of his sex offender registration. He’s presumed innocent, of course, and will face a jury trial.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Teresa A. Moore is handling the prosecution. The bust is part of the DOJ’s “Project Safe Childhood” initiative, a long-running effort to target online child predators.
