Clifford Robert Sanchez, 38, is facing a long stretch after a Las Vegas sting caught him trying to prey on a four-year-old. Between March and May of 2023, Sanchez used encrypted apps like Wickr to groom someone he believed was the girl’s mother, detailing horrific acts and preparing to meet for abuse. He was arrested May 2nd at a restaurant after a sickening exchange of messages and images.
This wasn’t just talk. Court documents reveal Sanchez didn’t stop at virtual threats. He actively purchased items he referred to as “little gifts,” and freely shared child sexual abuse material during his online interactions. Investigators also discovered he ran a chatroom dedicated to the exchange of such depravity.
Sanchez pled guilty to one count of coercion and enticement. Judge Gloria M. Navarro didn’t show an ounce of mercy, sentencing him to 10 years in federal prison, followed by a brutal 20-year supervised release. The terms are airtight: mandatory sex offender counseling, regular polygraph tests, constant computer monitoring, and strict limitations on employment and movement. He’s banned from being near any children.
Federal prosecutors also secured $41,000 in restitution from Sanchez. The case was led by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah and HSI Special Agent in Charge Eddy Wang, as part of the nationwide Project Safe Childhood initiative. HSI spearheaded the investigation and brought this predator to justice.
