Federal investigators are scrambling to counter a chilling new trend: online predators radicalizing kids into a nihilistic, violent worldview. Dubbed “764” or “Nihilistic Violent Extremism” (NVE), these networks aren’t about politics or religion – they’re about tearing down society, and they’re using social media and gaming apps to drag kids as young as nine into the abyss.
The Justice Department is sounding the alarm, warning parents and educators about these decentralized groups that glorify mass killers, promote animal cruelty, and encourage self-harm. These aren’t necessarily ideologues; some join for a twisted sense of belonging. But the result is the same: vulnerable children being groomed for chaos.
The FBI is currently tracking over 450 individuals tied to these networks nationwide, and the problem is growing. Investigations are active right here in the Central District of Illinois, where agents are building cases involving both predators and their young victims. The feds say these groups operate in plain sight, on platforms kids use every day.
NVE isn’t about achieving a specific goal. It’s a drive to *destroy* – to revel in societal collapse. And they’re actively recruiting the most vulnerable among us, turning kids into their foot soldiers of despair.
