Pagan Motorcycle Gang Member Admits to Brutal Attacks

James “Rugby” Prettyman, 44, admitted today to participating in coordinated attacks on rival bikers in Kansas and Missouri last September. The former Pagan’s Motorcycle Gang member and his crew allegedly hunted down and brutally shot a lone biker on the side of the road – and plotted to ambush others. The attacks were payback, pure and simple.

According to federal prosecutors, the gang drove to Topeka on September 3, 2022, aiming to ambush rivals at an event. The order was brutal: “catch a stray” or “smash on sight,” using axe handles or firearms. A disagreement inside the vehicle prevented an immediate assault, and they retreated back to Kansas City. But the threat wasn’t dropped.

Two weeks later, on September 17th, Prettyman and the Pagans cornered a single rival biker in Blue Springs, Missouri. Armed with guns and at least one axe handle, they opened fire, hitting the victim seven times in the leg, thigh, arm, and buttocks. The extent of the victim’s injuries hasn’t been released.

Prettyman pleaded guilty to attempted assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, and aiding and abetting possession of a firearm during a violent crime. He’s looking at a minimum of five years, but could be locked up for life without parole. Judge Greg Kays will hand down the sentence.
