DoorDash Workers Urged to Claim $16.75M Settlement by Dec. 31

New York – The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is putting the pedal to the metal, urging current and former DoorDash delivery workers, known as Dashers, to file their claims in a $16.75 million settlement by December 31, 2025.

In a landmark victory for worker rights, New York Attorney General Letitia James secured the substantial sum after uncovering that DoorDash had siphoned off tips meant for delivery workers to subsidize guaranteed pay. The deception came to light during an OAG investigation, which found that both consumers and Dashers were misled into thinking tips would go directly to workers.

With a deadline extension now in place until 11:59 p.m. on December 31, Attorney General James has made it clear that every Dasher who received notice of the settlement should act swiftly. “Delivery workers keep this city running, and they deserve to see every dollar earned for their hard work,” James emphasized.

The settlement covers Dashers who delivered food in New York between May 2017 and September 2019. Approximately 63,000 eligible workers have received notices with instructions on how to file a claim online. As of December 3, over 30,000 claims had been submitted.

DoorDash’s guaranteed pay model was at the heart of the fraud. The company allowed Dashers to see potential earnings before accepting deliveries but used tips to reduce guaranteed pay amounts rather than add to them. Customers were misled into thinking their tips would be fully passed on to workers, when in fact DoorDash was retaining them.

Attorney General James’ office is urging all eligible Dashers who haven’t yet submitted their claims to do so immediately. For those experiencing issues with the filing process or with questions about the settlement, Atticus Administration can be contacted directly at 1-800-270-1039 or info@NYDoorDashSettlement.com.
