TULSA, Okla. — A Federal jury has convicted 51-year-old Francis Harry Dishmon of Tulsa in an attempted bank robbery at the IBC Bank in Miami, Oklahoma, according to United States Attorney Danny C. Williams Sr.
Dishmon was charged with attempting to rob the bank and killing a person while trying to evade capture. The trial lasted five days before a verdict was reached.
The Government filed a two-count Indictment against Dishmon on April 8, 2014. He faces a statutory maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the attempted bank robbery charge.
In addition to the attempted robbery, Dishmon was also charged with causing a deadly crash while attempting to avoid law enforcement. However, the jury could not reach a verdict on this second count, and it will be retried at a later date.
The sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 9, 2015, before United States District Judge John E. Dowdell. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant United States Attorneys Jan Reincke and Gary L. Davis II prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
