New Orleans Man Wilbert Clark Sentenced for Heroin Conspiracy

WILBERT CLARK, the 30-year-old kingpin of a New Orleans-based heroin trafficking operation, was handed a 30-month sentence by U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier on Thursday after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges.

The judge also ordered Clark to serve an additional six years of supervised release following his prison term. Clark’s conviction stems from his involvement in a 21-count Superseding Indictment that targeted a major heroin-trafficking organization operating around Loyola Avenue and Harmony Street in Central City, New Orleans.

According to court records, the ring sourced its supply of half-kilogram quantities of heroin via Megabus from Houston, distributing it across the New Orleans area. Clark was one of eight defendants charged in the extensive investigation that began on September 18, 2015.

Praising the efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved, U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite highlighted the crucial role played by the FBI New Orleans Gang Task Force (NOGTF), Saint Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the New Orleans Police Department in dismantling this criminal network.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Long led the prosecution against Clark, ensuring that justice was served for the community of New Orleans. This sentence sends a strong message about the government’s commitment to crack down on drug trafficking and keep our streets safe.
