MANHATTAN – Adam Sloan, a street dealer known as “Slug,” is facing a federal charge in connection to a fatal fentanyl overdose in July. Prosecutors allege Sloan sold the narcotics that led to the death of a New York City resident.

The feds unsealed an indictment today, naming Sloan as the source of the deadly dose. The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, reportedly overdosed on July 15th. Sources say the case is now before Judge Lewis A. Kaplan.

“This isn’t about possession,” said U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton. “This guy allegedly *sold* a fatal amount of fentanyl. That makes him a killer, plain and simple.” Clayton vowed to aggressively pursue fentanyl dealers, calling the drug “an extraordinarily dangerous poison” flooding the streets.

DEA officials echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the growing threat of fentanyl. “The danger isn’t just the drug itself, it’s the individuals pushing it,” stated Christopher Roberts, head of the DEA’s New York Task Force. “We’re coming for them, and we’re going to hold them accountable.”

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch was blunt about the case. “This defendant showed zero regard for human life,” she said, pointing out that the victim was allegedly trying to improve their life. “Now a family is left grieving, all because of this dealer’s callousness.”
