A D.C. fentanyl dealer is facing serious time after a jury found him guilty on multiple federal charges yesterday. Derrick Thomas Martin, 33, chucked a backpack packed with 700 grams of cocaine, over 5,700 fentanyl pills, and a loaded Century Arms Micro Draco pistol out of his apartment window when police showed up to arrest him.

The bust went down November 25th at an apartment on Pennsylvania Avenue SE. Cops were there on a warrant from Maryland – Martin had skipped a trial on previous gun and drug charges. As officers knocked, Martin made a desperate attempt to ditch the evidence, sending the backpack plummeting to the street below.

According to prosecutors, a child was sleeping inside the apartment, just feet away from where Martin stashed the Micro Draco, a pistol that takes the same ammunition as an AK-47. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro slammed Martin as a ‘career criminal’ with 31 prior arrests, claiming he was a clear and present danger to the community.

Martin’s sentencing is set for July 10, 2026, before Judge Trevor N. McFadden. He’s looking at a minimum of 15 years behind bars. This isn’t just about drugs; it’s about a loaded weapon and reckless disregard for public safety.
