Crime kingpin Robert John Mueller, 29, from Dyersville, Iowa, has been hit with a heavy federal charge for distributing methamphetamine near a local playground. According to the Department of Justice USAO, Mueller stands accused of two counts of distributing meth within 1000 feet of Candy Cane Park on Arbor Court Drive, Dyersville.
The charges come from an Indictment unsealed on September 12, 2014, in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids. The court document alleges that Mueller knowingly and intentionally distributed a Schedule II controlled substance within the prohibited proximity to the playground.
If convicted on all counts, Mueller faces a severe penalty of up to 40 years’ imprisonment, a $2,000,000 fine, $100 in special assessments, and a lifetime of supervised release after any prison term. Mueller appeared today in federal court in Cedar Rapids, with his next hearing set for September 16.
As per the legal system’s due process, Mueller is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The case against him is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Erin Eldridge and investigated by the Dubuque Drug Task Force.
