Fentanyl Killed Him: Lorain Dealer Indicted

⏱ 3 min read

Elyria, OH – Roderick Cross Jr., 34, is facing a potential life sentence after a federal grand jury indicted him for dealing the fentanyl-laced drugs that killed a man identified as J.K. on March 15, 2025. Cross, also known as “Chubb,” allegedly supplied a mix of cocaine and fentanyl to the victim, who later overdosed.

The feds say Cross wasn’t just slinging dope. A search of two locations linked to him turned up firearms, more fentanyl, and the tools of the trade. This isn’t his first rodeo with the law either. Court records show Cross has a lengthy rap sheet, including convictions for Attempted Murder and Felonious Assault in 2010, Robbery in 2018, and prior drug charges in 2025.

The investigation was a joint effort between the FBI’s Cleveland Division and the Elyria Police Department Narcotics Unit, with support from the FBI’s Lorain/Elyria Safe Streets Task Force. Prosecutors Elizabeth Crook and Stephanie Wojtasik are handling the case for the Northern District of Ohio.

If convicted, Cross is looking at a minimum of 20 years behind bars, but the sentence could stretch to life due to his extensive criminal history and the fact that his drugs directly caused a death. Remember, an indictment is just an accusation. Cross is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
