New Stanton Straw Purchaser Sentenced To Home Confinement

PITTSBURGH – The grim streets of New Stanton have once again become the scene of a federal courtroom’s justice. Sergey Ozhiganov, 26, was handed an eight-month sentence of home confinement and two years of probation by United States District Judge David S. Cercone for his role in a firearm straw purchase.

On October 29, 2011, Ozhiganov is alleged to have aided and abetted the making of false statements connected to the illegal ‘straw purchase’ of a firearm from Cloverleaf Gun and Sport Shop in Latrobe. The United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced the sentence today.

The case against Ozhiganov was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Eric S. Rosen, who has been tirelessly working on behalf of the government to ensure justice is served.

U.S. Attorney Hickton also extended his commendation to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Greensburg Police Department for their diligent investigation that led to the successful prosecution of Ozhiganov.

As part of his sentence, Ozhiganov will be confined to his residence, forbidden from leaving unless absolutely necessary. This严厉 punishment serves as a stern warning to others considering similar illegal activities.

This case is another example of the ongoing efforts by federal authorities to crack down on straw purchases and ensure public safety. The grimy streets of New Stanton are now one step closer to peace, thanks to the diligent work of the ATF and local law enforcement.
