Saratoga Shooting: Bodycam Footage Released in Brandon Moore Death

MALTA, NY – A domestic dispute turned fatal in Saratoga County on April 10, 2025, and the New York Attorney General’s Office just dropped the bodycam footage, laying bare the chaotic moments leading up to the death of Brandon Moore. The footage, released today by Attorney General Letitia James, shows the response of New York State Police (NYSP) troopers and Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) officers to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at an apartment complex in Malta.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, officers arrived to find a woman, visibly bleeding, exiting the apartment. Moments later, Brandon Moore emerged, allegedly brandishing what appeared to be a handgun. The bodycam footage shows Moore allegedly pointing the weapon at the responding officers. NYSP troopers and SCSO officers immediately opened fire, striking Moore. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The initial report stated a handgun was involved, but investigators recovered a pellet gun at the scene. This detail, while crucial, doesn’t diminish the immediate threat officers perceived, according to officials. The Office of Special Investigation (OSI), a division of the Attorney General’s Office, is mandated under New York State Executive Law Section 70-b to investigate any incident where a police or peace officer may have caused a death – regardless of on or off-duty status, or whether the deceased was armed or in custody.

“The release of this footage is a direct result of my commitment to transparency and accountability in investigations involving law enforcement,” stated Attorney General James. “While this footage provides a visual record of the events, it is crucial to understand that it does not represent a judgment of guilt or innocence. The investigation is ongoing.” The AG’s office stressed that the release is not an expression of any opinion as to the guilt or innocence of any party, nor does it indicate any impending charges.

Grimy Times sources within the SCSO say the incident is already causing friction within the department, with some officers questioning the speed with which force was used. The victim who was bleeding upon the officer’s arrival has not been identified and her condition is currently unknown. The OSI continues to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and analyze the bodycam footage, ballistic reports, and other pertinent information.

Warning: The released video contains graphic content that may be disturbing to viewers. Grimy Times has viewed the footage and can confirm it depicts a volatile and rapidly escalating situation. The investigation remains active, and Grimy Times will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as they become available.
