Swap Meet Stick-Up Lands Pittsburgh Pair in Federal Prison

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A brazen 2010 robbery of the Pittsburgh Swap Meet, coupled with a marijuana distribution conspiracy, has landed two city residents behind bars for the better part of the next decade. Derrick Holliday, 27, and Zane Lundy, 27, received hefty sentences in federal court this week, the culmination of a years-long investigation.

United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti delivered the sentences: Derrick Holliday was sentenced to 130 months (10 years, 10 months) in prison, while Zane Lundy received a 154-month (12 years, 10 months) sentence. Both men were convicted on federal charges related to drug and firearms offenses stemming from the Swap Meet heist.

Court records reveal that between September 14th and 15th, 2010, Holliday, Lundy, and their accomplices plotted to distribute marijuana and rob the Swap Meet – a business that operates across state lines – along with its owner, vendors, employees, and customers. On September 15th, the plan was put into action. The crew descended on the Swap Meet, strong-arming their way to approximately $300-$400 in cash and a full kilogram of marijuana.

The robbery wasn’t a simple smash-and-grab. Prosecutors detailed how both Holliday and Lundy were armed and actively used firearms during the commission of the crime. This escalation of violence was a key factor in the severity of the sentences handed down by Judge Conti. The case was built by Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

This prosecution falls under the umbrella of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a multi-agency initiative designed to combat gun violence at the federal, state, and local levels. The collaborative effort aims to not only prosecute offenders but also to prevent future crimes through community engagement and targeted law enforcement strategies.

U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton lauded the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, stating that their dedication was crucial in bringing Holliday and Lundy to justice. The Swap Meet robbery serves as a stark reminder that armed violence and drug trafficking will not be tolerated in Western Pennsylvania, and those who engage in such activities will face the full weight of the law.
