AG James Launches Election Protection Hotline for June Primary

New York Attorney General Letitia James today unveiled a critical Election Protection Hotline to ensure that voters can cast their ballots without hurdles during the upcoming June 24, 2025 primary election. The hotline, accessible at (866) 390-2992, will be operational from June 14 through June 25, and on Election Day itself. It is designed to help voters tackle issues ranging from absentee ballots to in-person voting challenges.

‘New Yorkers deserve to feel secure when they go to the polls for this month’s primary,’ James declared. ‘Free and fair elections are vital to our democratic process, and my office’s Election Protection Hotline will be there to guide voters through every step of the voting process.’

The hotline complements a frequently asked questions (FAQ) guide that provides information on absentee and early mail ballots, as well as voter registration matters. Complaints can also be submitted online, with OAG attorneys and staff ready to assist during extended hours.

Established in 2012, the Election Protection Hotline has been instrumental in resolving hundreds of complaints from voters and working in tandem with local election authorities. The OAG has actively fought against voter registration purges and advocated for early voting access across New York State.

New York law guarantees all registered voters the right to accessible elections, with polling places required to remain open continuously on Election Day. Voters are also protected from intimidation or coercion by officials or any individuals during the voting process.

The OAG’s Voting Rights Section, led by Chief Lindsay McKenzie, coordinates this effort. The Civil Rights Bureau under Bureau Chief Sandra Park oversees this initiative as part of the Division for Social Justice, headed by Chief Deputy Attorney General Meghan Faux and supervised by First Deputy Attorney General Jennifer Levy.
