Steven Tutt Sentenced

Child pornography possession has landed a Gorham, Maine man in federal prison. Steven Tutt, 46, of Gorham, Maine, was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day in prison for possession of child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Tutt pleaded guilty on November 29, 2016, and was sentenced by Chief Judge Nancy Torresen in U.S. District Court. In addition to his prison term, Tutt was ordered to pay a $3,000 fine and will serve 5 years of supervised release.

The case against Tutt began when law enforcement used a peer-to-peer file sharing program to download a child pornography video from his home computer. A search warrant was subsequently obtained, and a forensic examination of Tutt’s computer revealed several additional videos of child pornography.

During an interview with law enforcement, Tutt admitted to actively searching for and obtaining images and videos of child pornography using peer-to-peer software. The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
