$400K Meth Load Lands Man in Federal Court

⏱ 2 min read

AMARILLO, TX – Cameron Nesbitt, 33, of Lancaster, California, is facing a long stretch in federal prison after a jury found him guilty of hauling nearly 100 pounds of methamphetamine through the Texas panhandle. The street value of the drugs? Roughly $400,000.

The bust went down August 2, 2025, in Oldham County. A sharp-eyed Texas DPS trooper pulled the rental vehicle Nesbitt was riding in over for speeding. Something didn’t sit right with the trooper – classic trafficking indicators, according to court testimony – and a search revealed the massive meth stash stashed inside.

Federal prosecutors presented over 40 exhibits and called multiple law enforcement witnesses during the two-day trial, which concluded March 18, 2026. Jurors didn’t buy Nesbitt’s story.

“This defendant thought he could roll through North Texas with a half-million dollars worth of meth undetected,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould. “He was wrong.”

The DEA’s Joseph B. Tucker added that the bust sends a message: North Texas won’t be a highway for drug traffickers. Nesbitt’s sentencing date hasn’t been set.
