Columbus Gang Member Pleads Guilty to RICO Conspiracy
Columbus, OH – In a shocking turn of events, Robert Wilson III, a 27-year-old Columbus gang member, has pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy in connection with a case involving the organized criminal enterprise known as the Short North Posse.
As part of his plea, Wilson is taking responsibility for three previously unsolved murders. The victims, Donathan Moon, Rodriccos Williams, and Tyrell Davis, were all gunned down in separate incidents between 2007 and 2008. Wilson is also admitting his involvement in a fourth murder to which he has already pleaded guilty in state court.
The racketeering case, which was charged by a superseding indictment in October 2014, involves a total of 20 individuals, including Wilson. The charges against the group include murders, attempted murders, drug trafficking, weapons offenses, extortion, and robbery.
U.S. Attorney Carter M. Stewart commended the two-year long investigation by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, DEA, ATF, Columbus Police, Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott’s Office, and others.
Wilson’s guilty plea comes as part of an agreement with prosecutors to a sentencing range of 30 to 45 years in prison. The court will determine the exact sentence at a sentencing hearing.
The case is a major victory for law enforcement and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the agencies involved. It is also a reminder of the devastating consequences of gang violence and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes.
Robert Wilson III is scheduled to be sentenced at a later date. In the meantime, he will remain in custody pending the outcome of the case.
