101 Arrested in Federal Crackdown on Violent Crime

Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies arrested 101 individuals over the past week in a coordinated crackdown on violent crime dubbed Operation Spring Cleaning. The multi-agency sweep involved more than 100 officers working alongside federal prosecutors to target suspects across multiple jurisdictions.

The operation, which ran from May 12 through May 18, focused on individuals wanted for federal violent crime investigations. Agencies participating included the FBI, DEA, ATF, U.S. Marshals Service, and various state and local police departments. Prosecutors filed charges against all 101 arrestees, though specific case details remain sealed pending initial court appearances.

“This operation demonstrates the power of federal, state, and local partnerships in removing violent offenders from our communities,” said U.S. Attorney Jane Doe. “These arrests represent months of investigative work targeting those who pose the greatest threat to public safety.”

Authorities executed warrants at residences, businesses, and other locations throughout the week. The arrests came as part of ongoing investigations into gang activity, drug trafficking organizations, and violent repeat offenders. Most suspects were taken into custody without incident, though several arrests involved brief foot chases or minor confrontations.

The operation follows a similar multi-agency initiative last fall that resulted in 89 arrests. Federal officials say such coordinated efforts help maximize resources and ensure violent criminals face federal prosecution, which often carries longer sentences than state charges. All arrestees will be processed through the federal system and appear before magistrate judges in the coming days.

Operation Spring Cleaning remains active, with authorities indicating additional arrests may follow as investigations continue. The U.S. Attorney’s Office expects to release more detailed information about specific cases and charges once defendants make their initial court appearances.
