Felony Firearm Sentence

⏱ 2 min read

A shooting at a convenience store in Brundidge, Alabama on April 7, 2024, left one bystander with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The incident involved 43-year-old Brian Oneal Guice, a convicted felon from Montgomery, Alabama, who was found to be in possession of a handgun during his arrest on May 1, 2024. Guice’s prior felony convictions prohibit him from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law. The shooting and subsequent arrest led to a federal investigation, which linked the recovered firearm to shell casings collected from the crime scene.

Guice’s arrest was made possible by the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Brundidge Police Department, and the Troy Police Department. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences also contributed to the investigation.

On March 24, 2026, a federal judge sentenced Guice to 174 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. The sentence was imposed after considering the firearm’s connection to the shooting, Guice’s criminal history, and other relevant factors. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating violent crime and protecting communities.

The prosecution of Guice was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Christine Levi. The outcome of this case demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement agencies to holding individuals accountable for their actions and ensuring public safety.
