Harrisburg resident Gerard Grant, 60, is headed to federal prison for two years after pleading guilty to illegally selling prescription drugs in the heart of Pennsylvania’s capital city. The conviction stems from a multi-agency sting that exposed Grant’s repeated sales of hydrocodone-laced Vicodin tablets to individuals working with federal investigators.
According to court documents filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Grant admitted to distributing approximately 500 Vicodin tablets during a series of controlled transactions. The sales occurred on five separate occasions in Harrisburg, where Grant knowingly funneled a powerful opioid into the hands of buyers—some of whom were cooperating with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler confirmed the details, emphasizing that each transaction posed a direct threat to public safety. “Illicit distribution of prescription narcotics fuels addiction and violence in our communities,” Brandler said. “This sentence sends a clear message: federal authorities will pursue those who profit from the drug crisis.”
The investigation was led by the DEA’s Harrisburg Resident Office, with critical support from the Pennsylvania State Police, the Dauphin County Drug Task Force, and the Harrisburg Police Department. Their coordinated surveillance and undercover operations peeled back layers of Grant’s operation, culminating in his arrest and federal indictment.
Grant was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Yvette Kane in Harrisburg, who handed down the 24-month prison term followed by supervised release. No fines were imposed, but the conviction will permanently mark Grant’s record with a federal drug felony.
Assistant U.S. Attorney William A. Behe prosecuted the case, weaving testimony and transaction records into a clear narrative of deliberate criminal conduct. With opioid abuse remaining a top concern across Pennsylvania, law enforcement officials say crackdowns like this are part of a broader push to disrupt illicit drug networks before they spiral into wider harm.
