Domestic violence in Spartanburg County is getting a direct, coordinated assault from federal, state, and local law enforcement. A new county-wide crackdown—dubbed “Home Front”—will be unveiled Wednesday morning as officials gear up to target abusers with aggressive prosecution, enhanced victim support, and multi-agency coordination.
Acting United States Attorney Beth Drake, Solicitor Barry Barnette, and Special Agent in Charge C.J. Hyman of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) will lead the charge at a press conference set for 10:00 a.m. at the Spartanburg County Courthouse. The event marks a formal escalation in the fight against intimate partner violence, a persistent stain on the region’s crime statistics.
The initiative isn’t window dressing. It brings together prosecutors, police, social workers, and federal agents under a unified strategy to identify high-risk cases, fast-track investigations, and ensure repeat offenders face serious consequences. Law enforcement sources confirm that criminal histories, firearms possession, and prior restraining orders will trigger immediate intervention.
Media are invited to attend but will face tight restrictions. All journalists must present government-issued photo ID and arrive at least 20 minutes before the 10 a.m. start. Equipment and personnel will be screened through courthouse security, and press inquiries are to be directed to Murray Glenn at 864-809-4892. No exceptions will be made.
The press conference will be held in the East Courtroom at 180 Magnolia Street—a courthouse that has seen more than its share of domestic violence cases spill into criminal dockets. Street parking is available on two sides of the building, with additional space in the surface lot behind the structure.
“Home Front” signals a hard pivot from reactive policing to proactive intervention. With domestic violence often escalating in silence, officials say the goal is to break the cycle before it ends in tragedy. The message to offenders is clear: the walls of your home won’t shield you from justice.
