Uryan Frymire, 37, of Ohio, is facing federal charges after being caught in a high-stakes cocaine trafficking sting involving more than 70 kilograms of the drug—worth millions on the street. The arrest, stemming from a multi-state investigation, marks one of the largest drug interdictions tied to northern Indiana in recent years.
The case exploded on January 17, 2017, when Texas authorities pulled over a semi-tractor during a routine traffic stop. Hidden inside the trailer: 62 packages of a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for cocaine—totaling approximately 70 kilograms. The sole occupant, the driver, admitted he was hauling the stash to Fort Wayne and Chicago for distribution through concealed rooftop compartments.
Under federal supervision, the driver agreed to make a controlled delivery of 17 kilograms to Uryan Frymire in Fort Wayne. On January 19, 2017, Frymire took the bait. He accepted the shipment before being swiftly arrested by Homeland Security Investigations agents waiting in the shadows.
Frymire now faces a single count of possession with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine—a federal offense that carries a mandatory minimum sentence and potential decades behind bars if convicted. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Indiana, led by David Capp, confirmed the criminal complaint.
Authorities emphasize that the criminal complaint is an allegation, and Frymire is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. However, the evidence—direct delivery, forensic testing, and cooperation from the initial driver—presents a damning trail leading straight to the defendant.
The investigation was a coordinated push by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, with critical support from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Greenville Police (Indiana), Indiana State Police, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is now in the hands of Assistant United States Attorney, who will prosecute to the fullest extent of federal law.
