Cory Foster Gets 59 1/2 Years For Armed Robbery Spree

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Cory D. Foster, 29, of Philadelphia, is facing a very long stretch behind bars. United States District Court Judge Mark A. Kearney today handed down a 714-month (59.5 year) sentence to Foster for a brazen spree of armed robberies and a violent carjacking that terrorized convenience stores across Southeastern Pennsylvania in late 2014. The sentence comes after a jury convicted Foster in May 2016, but legal maneuvering and a separate conviction delayed the full weight of justice until today.

Foster’s targets included a Lukoil Service station and convenience store in Trevose, Bucks County; a Liberty gas station and convenience store in Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County; and a CITGO gas station and convenience store in Phoenixville, Chester County. In each case, Foster allegedly brandished a firearm, demanding cash from terrified clerks. The final robbery, at the CITGO in Phoenixville, escalated when Foster stole a customer’s car at gunpoint, making off with both money and a vehicle.

The Delaware State Police finally caught up with Foster in February 2015, recovering the stolen vehicle and, crucially, the semiautomatic pistol used in the robberies. This led to a separate conviction in Delaware, where Foster was sentenced to ten years in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Judge Kearney stipulated that Foster must serve 57 years of the new sentence *after* completing his ten-year term in Delaware, effectively ensuring he’ll spend the vast majority of his life incarcerated.

While Foster is now facing the consequences, the investigation remains open regarding his accomplices. Law enforcement sources confirm that Foster’s confederates in the robberies have yet to be identified and brought to justice. This raises questions about the scope of the operation and whether others were involved in planning or executing the crimes.

The case was a collaborative effort, spearheaded by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Plymouth Township Police Department. Crucial support also came from the Bensalem Township and Schuylkill Township Police Departments, as well as the Delaware State Police. The investigation highlights the importance of interagency cooperation in tackling violent crime that crosses state lines.

Prosecution fell to Gabriel C. Magee, then an Assistant District Attorney for Montgomery County, who also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. Magee presented a compelling case that ultimately led to Foster’s conviction and lengthy sentence, sending a clear message that armed robbery and carjacking will not be tolerated in the region. The Grimy Times will continue to follow developments regarding Foster’s co-conspirators, should they emerge.
