Charlton Woman Admits Oxycodone Run
WORCESTER, MA – Jennifer Toledo, 45, of Charlton, confessed in federal court yesterday to her role in a brazen oxycodone distribution network that stretched from Massachusetts to New York. Toledo pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Timothy S. Hillman, facing a potential 20-year stretch behind bars.
The feds say Toledo wasn’t just a bystander. From August 2015 through April 2016, she actively conspired with John Tautenhan III and Amina Young to flood Worcester County with the highly addictive opioid. The operation wasn’t subtle. Investigators tracked Toledo on multiple trips south, specifically to Yonkers, New York, where she allegedly sourced the pills.
On April 17, 2016, federal agents watched Toledo drive to a Yonkers restaurant to meet with Amina Young. Five days later, on April 22, 2016, she made the trip again. This time, authorities intercepted her vehicle, uncovering a massive haul – over 500 oxycodone pills – belonging to Young and two other passengers. A clear attempt to move serious quantity.
Toledo isn’t the only one facing the music. John Tautenhan III already pleaded guilty in April 2016 and is slated for sentencing on July 12, 2017. Amina Young, however, maintains her innocence and is currently awaiting trial. The DEA is clearly determined to dismantle this entire operation, from the source to the street.
If convicted, Toledo could face up to 20 years in prison, a mandatory minimum of three years supervised release, and a staggering fine of up to $1 million. Sentencing will be determined by Judge Hillman, factoring in federal sentencing guidelines and other relevant legal considerations. This isn’t a slap on the wrist – this is a serious charge with serious consequences.
Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb and Michael Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Field Division, jointly announced the guilty plea. Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg A. Friedholm of Weinreb’s Worcester Branch Office is leading the prosecution. Remember, these are allegations until proven, and Young is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
