REHOBOTH, MA – Christopher Mota, 29, is facing serious federal charges after authorities uncovered a sickening trove of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on his iPhone. Federal agents arrested Mota this morning, alleging he preyed on at least four minor females, ages 12 to 16.

The bust went down as Mota was attempting to fly out of Logan Airport to Aruba on June 5th. A routine border search of his luggage revealed a hidden folder within the Photos app crammed with CSAM. Homeland Security Investigations seized the iPhone, and the digital forensics team quickly confirmed the worst.

During questioning, Mota reportedly confessed to collecting CSAM from minors through Snapchat, text, and Telegram. He estimated he’d received material from 20 to 25 girls, admitting the volume was “a lot” – “probably hundreds” of images and videos, according to investigators.

A preliminary review of the phone showed explicit communications with the four identified victims, whose identities are being protected by law enforcement. Mota is now charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of children. If convicted, he’s looking at a mandatory minimum of 15 years behind bars, with a maximum of 30, plus supervised release and a hefty fine.

The case is being prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Michael J. Krol, with support from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
