Lincoln, NE – In a shocking display of depravity, Clifton D. Reinoehl, 44, of Sheridan, Wyoming, was sentenced to a staggering 264 months in federal prison for his role in a child pornography ring.
According to court documents, Reinoehl was arrested in February 2023 after a hotel manager in Schuyler, Nebraska reported a suspicious guest who was seen with a young girl. Reinoehl, who had rented a vehicle and driven to Schuyler to meet an ‘online friend’ he claimed was an underage girl, was taken into custody and interviewed by law enforcement.
During the interview, Reinoehl confirmed that he knew the victim was a minor from their online conversations and even provided her birthdate. When his phone was searched, officers found a SD card containing child pornography images, and a laptop at his residence in Wyoming was seized, revealing a staggering 2,689 child pornography files and 14,278 child erotica images.
Further investigation revealed that Reinoehl would actively communicate with children online, manipulating and grooming them to send him sexually explicit images of themselves. In pronouncing his sentence, Senior Judge John M. Gerrard commended the bravery and courage of the victim for coming forward and cooperating with law enforcement.
Reinoehl was also ordered to pay $54,000 to the victims and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison. The U.S. Attorney’s Office praised the Schuyler Police Department, Sheridan, Wyoming Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, and Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation for their tireless efforts in bringing Reinoehl to justice.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The U.S. Attorney’s Office extends special thanks to the victim, her family, and law enforcement officials for their dedication to protecting children from predators like Reinoehl.
