Newark Woman Sentenced 12 Years for Jersey City Crime Spree
NEWARK, N.J. – A brutal crime spree in Jersey City has come to an end, with 21-year-old Siobhan Chandler of Newark facing the consequences.
Chandler was sentenced to 144 months in prison for her role in three robberies and two shootings in Jersey City. The one-night crime spree left a trail of destruction and fear in its wake.
According to documents filed in the case, Chandler and her co-conspirator, 21-year-old Rodney Williams, robbed a gas station on the evening of Nov. 14, 2023. Williams pointed his gun at an attendant and demanded money, while Chandler threatened force, violence, or fear of injury to two employees.
The duo later entered another store, where Williams again pointed his firearm at a clerk and demanded money. The clerk handed over the cash, and Chandler and Williams fled the scene.
The final stop on their crime spree was a nearby restaurant, where Williams pointed his gun at a cashier and demanded money. In a horrific act of violence, Williams discharged the firearm, shooting the cashier in the chest. The cashier handed over the cash, and Chandler and Williams fled the scene once again.
U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger credited the Jersey City Police Department and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office for their investigation, which led to Chandler’s sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Shontae D. Gray represented the government in the case.
In addition to her prison sentence, Chandler was also sentenced to five years of supervised release. The charges against Rodney Williams are still pending, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
