Wanblee Thug Sentenced for Kicking Feds

• Federal judge slams Wanblee man Chad Doyle Jr., 22, with 15 months in federal prison for kicking a federal officer during an altercation in December 2023.

The sentencing took place on May 17, 2024, in Rapid City, South Dakota, where U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier handed down the sentence. Doyle was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund and serve three years of supervised release upon his release from prison.

Doyle’s crime was a result of a December 2023 incident where he assaulted an Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety patrol officer. The officer was left battered and bruised after Doyle kicked and attempted to punch him.

The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office because officers employed with the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety are federal law enforcement officers.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Lindrooth led the prosecution, and the case was investigated by the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety.

Doyle pleaded guilty to one count of Assault on a Federal Officer on March 11, 2024, after being indicted by a federal grand jury in January of the same year.

Doyle was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following the sentencing, bringing an end to a case that has been making headlines in Rapid City.
