A 47-year-old South Charleston man has been sentenced to prison for his role in distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine in Kanawha County.
Isaiah Vaniah McDade, 47, was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for his involvement in the distribution of a quantity of fentanyl and a quantity of methamphetamine.
Between August 10, 2022, and September 16, 2022, McDade sold approximately 5 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant over the course of five separate transactions, according to court documents and statements made in court.
McDade admitted to those transactions and further admitted to selling the confidential informant a quantity of methamphetamine during the September 2, 2022, transaction and 3.46 grams of cocaine during the September 16, 2022, transaction, court documents show.
Furthermore, McDade discussed the distribution of controlled substances during phone calls intercepted by law enforcement officers between November 3, 2022, and December 2, 2022. He admitted that those intercepted discussions were of the distribution of 33.5 grams of heroin, 7 grams of methamphetamine, and 30.8 grams of cocaine, according to the court.
Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at McDade’s residence on August 17, 2023, and seized $5,115, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.
United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT), and the South Charleston Police Department, which is composed of the Charleston Police Department, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Nitro Police Department, the St. Albans Police Department, and the South Charleston Police Department.
United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin imposed the sentence, while Assistant United States Attorney JC MacCallum prosecuted the case.
