Jamestown’s Jacob Komenda Sentenced

Jacob Komenda, 27, of Jamestown, NY, has been sentenced to 72 months in prison for conspiring to possess with intent to distribute, and distributing, five grams or more of methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara handed down the sentence, following Komenda’s conviction on the charge.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who handled the case, the investigation into Komenda’s activities began on April 27, 2019, when members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Komenda’s residence in Jamestown. During the search, officers recovered methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia throughout the residence, as well as a 12-gauge shotgun and a stun gun.

A second search warrant was executed at Komenda’s residence on September 5, 2019. On this occasion, investigators found Komenda with $3,182 in cash in his shorts pocket, which was determined to be proceeds of his drug trafficking activities. Additionally, methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia were recovered from the residence.

The sentencing is the result of a collaborative investigation by the Jamestown Police Department, under the direction of Chief Timothy Jackson, the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarantino, New York Field Division, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller, New York Field Division, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff James Quattrone.

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced the sentencing, stating that the conviction and sentencing of Komenda demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combating drug trafficking in the region. The investigation and prosecution of Komenda’s case serve as a warning to those involved in similar activities that they will be held accountable for their actions.
