Manly Man’s Guilty Plea: Cory Allen More Cops to Gun Possession as Unlawful Drug User

Cory Allen More, a 33-year-old Manly, Iowa, man, took a guilty plea in federal court in Sioux City on June 3, 2024, for possession of a firearm by an unlawful drug user.

According to the Department of Justice, More was stopped by a Clear Lake police officer on October 23, 2023, after his vehicle ran out of gas in Clear Lake, Iowa. During the stop, the officer found 2 marijuana baggies near More’s feet and a handgun in a holster on his belt in plain view.

On October 27, 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant at More’s residence in Manly, Iowa, and seized marijuana, scales, drug paraphernalia, and 16 firearms and ammunition.

As part of the plea agreement, More admitted to possessing a firearm while using unlawful drugs. He faces a potential mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and 5 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that aims to reduce violent crime by focusing enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partnering with prevention and reentry programs.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Fletcher and was investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Clear Lake Police Department, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.

More remains free on bond pending sentencing, which will be set after a presentence report is prepared. The case file number is 24-CR-03006.
