Bronx Dealer Gets 4 Years for 8 Kilo Coke Run

⏱ 2 min read

PITTSBURGH, PA – A Bronx man is headed back to prison after a bust that landed eight kilograms of cocaine in Pennsylvania. Jose Baez Cabrera, 35, got 46 months in federal court today, courtesy of U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon. On top of the prison time, he’s facing another three years on supervised release – if immigration doesn’t deport him first.

State troopers and DEA agents nailed Cabrera on August 16th, 2023, catching him red-handed transporting the coke across the state with plans to push it to dealers in Erie. This wasn’t his first rodeo. Cabrera was already on probation for a 2021 felony conviction in New York, where he’d been caught with a kilo of fentanyl.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Haller handled the prosecution. U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti gave a nod to the Pennsylvania State Police and the DEA for building the case and putting Cabrera away.
