Jose Orlando Colorado-Barcenas, a 35-year-old twice-deported Mexican national, has been federally indicted in the Eastern District of Texas for illegally reentering the United States after previously being removed.
According to the indictment, Colorado-Barcenas was found illegally living in Texarkana, Texas, on May 14, 2025, after having been previously deported to Mexico from the United States in June 2009 and again in January 2010.
The indictment alleges that Colorado-Barcenas illegally reentered the United States, which is a federal violation. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to repel the invasion of illegal immigration and protect communities from violent crime.
Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced the indictment, which was returned by a grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas. If convicted, Colorado-Barcenas faces up to 2 years in federal prison and deportation.
This case is being investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Bowie County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Richards is prosecuting the case.
A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to enforcing federal laws and protecting national security.
Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) to achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs). The initiative also aims to protect communities from the perpetrators of violent crime and achieve the total elimination of cartels and TCOs.
