Lincoln Meth Dealer Gets 10 Years Federal Time

LINCOLN, NE – Carlos Aldalberto Hernandez, Jr., 31, of Lincoln, Nebraska, is headed to federal prison for a decade after being sentenced for his role in a significant methamphetamine distribution operation. U.S. District Judge Susan M. Bazis handed down the 120-month sentence on July 24, 2025, in federal court. Unlike state systems, there’s no chance for parole in the federal system; Hernandez will serve the entirety of his sentence before beginning a five-year term of supervised release.

The case unfolded after the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force received information leading to purchases from Hernandez’s housemates in April and May of 2024. A confidential informant secured four separate buys, ranging from a quarter ounce to half an ounce of methamphetamine. The final buy took place on May 6, 2024, immediately preceding a raid on the residence. Investigators weren’t disappointed.

A search warrant executed on May 6th revealed a treasure trove of illicit goods. In Hernandez’s bedroom, a cardboard box held 14 baggies of methamphetamine. Additional, smaller quantities were discovered throughout the house. The total haul clocked in at approximately 610 grams – over a pound of meth hitting the streets of Lincoln. One of Hernandez’s co-conspirators was also found to be carrying another half ounce in his vehicle.

Lab analysis confirmed the potency of the stash. Three of the baggies seized from the house contained at least 170 grams of *actual* methamphetamine, meaning the operation wasn’t just about volume, but about moving potent product. A cooperating witness stepped forward, stating Hernandez had only been living at the house for roughly six weeks, but quickly established himself as a primary source of supply for other residents.

United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods made the sentencing announcement, emphasizing the seriousness of the crime. “This sentence sends a clear message that we will relentlessly pursue those who flood our communities with dangerous drugs like methamphetamine,” Woods stated. The investigation, spearheaded by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force, demonstrates a commitment to dismantling these operations at the source.

Hernandez’s conviction is a stark reminder of the pervasive drug problem gripping communities across the nation. While the sentence offers a temporary reprieve for Lincoln residents, the demand for methamphetamine remains high, and the supply chains are constantly adapting. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and report on the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Nebraska and beyond.
