373 Charged in Texas Border Enforcement

⏱ 3 min read

A massive crackdown on human smugglers and undocumented immigrants has yielded 373 new charges in Texas, with 22 people accused of smuggling humans across the border. The cases were filed in the Southern District of Texas from March 13 to 19.

Among those charged were four Mexican nationals with serious crime histories. Ivis Anibal Olvera-Moreno and Carlos Alberto Chairez-Estala had been previously deported, only to be caught again in the McAllen area. Daniel Davalos-Ayala and Jorge Armando Pineda-Samaniego were also caught, despite prior removals.

All four face up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted of felony reentry.

One defendant, Fernando Ramirez-Noria, has already been sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for his role in human smuggling. His conviction was just one part of a larger crackdown on immigration crimes.

Law enforcement agencies are working to keep Texas communities safe from the influx of undocumented immigrants with serious crime histories.
